Why I wrote this page
I run a referral link on this site, so I have an obvious interest in you using it. That is exactly why this page exists. The single most common way a referral goes wrong is that someone clicks the link, sees no discount anywhere, assumes they've been had, and closes the tab. I would rather tell you up front that you will see nothing, than have you find out at checkout and conclude I made it up.
Everything below is checked against Starlink's own support documentation, linked at the bottom. If their terms change, their page is right and mine is out of date.
The actual timeline

| Confirmation | Starlink emails you when your free month is confirmed. This is the first time you get told anything. |
| Month two | A service credit posts to your account and is deducted from that invoice. Your second month comes up free. |
How to check it actually worked
You don't have to take anyone's word for it. Starlink's own instruction is to log in to your account, open the Billing tab, and click preview invoice. Your upcoming invoice will show any promotion or credit that has been applied. If the free month is coming, it shows up there.
Notice what that tells you: the confirmation lives inside your account after you have ordered. There is nowhere to look before you buy. Any site promising you'll see a discount at checkout is describing something that doesn't exist.
One thing that will quietly cost you the free month
This is the part nobody mentions, and it is the reason I put this page first on the site.
When you open a referral link, the referral is attached to that browsing session — that tab, right then. It is not a long-lived cookie that follows you around for thirty days the way an ordinary affiliate link does. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and go to starlink.com directly, and as far as Starlink is concerned you arrived on your own. No referral, no free month.
So if you're going to use a referral link — mine or anyone else's — open it and finish the order in the same sitting, in the same tab. If you want to think it over first, that's sensible; just come back through the link again when you're ready, rather than going straight to starlink.com.

What you get, and what I get
Straight answer: you get one month of service free. I get a referral reward if you activate and stay subscribed two months. The price you pay is identical whether you use my link, someone else's, or none at all.
The part worth knowing is that there is no free month without a referral link. Starlink only issues the credit on orders that arrived through one. So if you're signing up anyway, going through somebody's link is strictly better for you than not — it costs you nothing and it's the only way that month gets credited.
